Mix Master

I feel all mixed up this year.

Normally I have strict regulations about when holiday celebrating can begin.

Thanksgiving planning and decorations occupy the entire month of November and Christmas isn’t even on the radar until at least December 1st.

One holiday at a time, please.

But I just can’t do it this year.

I feel too freakin’ festive.

Let’s face it.

Thanksgiving through the New Year is just one long, extended holiday anyway.

Let’s just combine them all and celebrate the shit out of what is left of 2012.

We’ll call it New Thankmas.

 New Thankmakah if you’re Jewish.

Our symbol of the season will be Santurky Claus.

And no, Halloween, you can’t join in.

Since we’re mixing up all the holidays, here’s a snack mix that you can serve at all your holiday celebrations.

Made with cashews, dried cranberries, candied ginger, and raw pumpkin seeds, I was going to call this Autumn Mix, but since the new holiday season now extends all the way through winter, I think I’ll call it Fwinter Mix.

FWINTER MIX

2 cups roasted, salted cashews

1 cup dried cranberries

1 cup chopped, candied ginger

1 cup raw, shelled pumpkin seeds

Combine all ingredients in a bowl.

Mix.

Want to make it extra special?

Boil 2 cups of apple cider in a shallow pan until it reduces into a thick syrup.

Pour it over the cashews and stir until coated.

Add the cider coated cashews to the rest of the mix.


This mix is my new favorite snack.

And Fwinter is my new favorite season.

And New Thankmas is completely ridiculous.
