My parents are always trying to get me drunk whenever they come to visit.
I really just wanted to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon doing laundry, cleaning the crevices in the kitchen, and organizing my sock drawer.
But my parents had other plans.
They made me go to the 2nd annual Delaware Beer and Wine Festival and sample 30 different beers and wines.
At one point, I think my mom threatened to revoke my inheritance unless I did a keg stand.
I begged them to let me take a break but they told me it was double or nothing.
I asked if I could at least get something to eat to settle my stomach.
I was handed this smorgasbord.
In all fairness, there were some really tasty craft beer selections.
Porters and stouts are quickly becoming my brews of choice and the Highlander Stout from Stewert’s Brewery was easily the best beer I had all day. It was smooth, creamy, and slightly sweet. It might have something to do with the fact that I think all stouts taste like brownies.
EVO also makes a mean pumpkin ale that rivals the Schlafly that I tried a few weeks ago.
I sampled a couple of local wines, but called it quits after the one that tasted faintly of formaldehyde.
My mom wasn’t too keen on the one that tasted like branches either.
I guess it was worth it in the end because my step-dad couldn’t stop smiling.
I’m ready for bed but my mom says I have to finish all my wine before I can be excused from the table.
They never quit telling you what to do.
